The Hare In Winter
Wow - the campaign to Save Our Pub is honestly nearly there - do check here to see how much we have raised! Once we have raised enough to buy the building, approximately £200,000, we will just go ahead, as we are confident, that there is enough support in our community to raise the money to refurbish it.
My neighbours, design duo, Nicola and Peter Coulter, The Hare In Winter, have wonderful studios workshops in their home in our village. Nicola hand prints linen and Peter is a woodturner and makes beautiful wooden kitchen utensils and furniture. Her and Peter's work will take centre stage in the vision for our new pub interior.
Nicola's simple salmon motif is much loved by everyone who works in and enjoys fishing. We are hoping that all our paper napkins in the pub will be printed displaying this motif AND Nicola has designed a Horncliffe tartan to celebrate this momentous project, depicted below.

Smaller pieces such as bowls and spoons, tea towels, table runners and napkins are all available online.
The tangerine linen tea towel, printed with Nicola's hellebore design, hangs from a beautifully hewn coat hook by Peter. A napkin in the same motif is printed above on emerald.
Knowing that our pub will double as a gallery and a showcase for local designers such as The Hare In Winter, local artists have been kindly donating artworks for us to sell to help raise money for our community buy out, we will be having an online auction very soon of original prints and paintings - watch this space!
Newcastle based artist Aidan Doyle has donated a number of original prints and paintings that will be included for sale.
