Mauve & Mocha
Another recent feature was about the home of Joanna Kerr, owner of brand new online homeware store Mauve & Mocha. Inspired by their journey renovating a beautiful but dated bungalow on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Joanna and her husband, Paul, have both set up new businesses of their own.
Prior to having children Joanna worked for the house builder Taylor Wimpey as a sales executive. She did this alongside small scale property developing with her husband Paul, a qualified joiner, until he finally started his own construction company. In October 2020 he launched Haig Kitchens, offering affordable, contemporary kitchens, of excellent quality.
Their own kitchen is a brilliant advertisement for Paul's kitchen company.
They spotted the houses potential immediately, the bungalow is on a corner plot and is surrounded by woodland.
Their garden office, complete with a fabulous mural from the amazing Rebel Walls makes a fantastic base for her new enterprise.
Joanna wanted an outlet for her creativity. She loves making art work and printmaking. She decided to set up her own homeware store when she struggled to find things she really liked for her new home, especially for her children's rooms. She has three daughters and they all have a strong sense of style, she wanted to encourage their imaginations.
Her eldest daughter has a Jungalow theme in her room.
Her youngest daughter's joyously decorated bedroom, with the split wood wall panelling hints at Mardi Gras
Her bedroom is equally stylish of course...
As is the living room...
Mauve & Mocha has been the ideal business for Joanna to work on around her children. There have been stressful moments and a new business is always a learning curve, but it combines her talents and experience perfectly.
It is going brilliantly, with lots of exciting brands joining over the new few months and Joanna is building up her own collection of art prints. You can follow the Mauve & Mocha shop on Instagram here and Joanna at home here.
